So you're getting married! First of all, let me just say "congratulations". Planning a wedding can be one of the most exciting times of your life...and one of the most frustrating. But mostly, it's fun and exciting. Here are a few tips to help you choose your photographer. It's my job as a photographer to make your life easier...whether you choose me as your photographer or not. I love talking to couples about their weddings and their photography. It's not only an event filled with incredible joy and happiness but also a time to be amazingly creative. Finding just the right combination of styles, compositions, locations, poses and such to express the love and commitment of a couple really gets me going. Please, please, please find someone you really enjoy working with . Your photographer will be the only one you hire that will be with you for the whole day. You will be interacting with him more than any other person involved in your wedding. It's also really important that he represents you well at your wedding. Most of us have been to weddings where the photographer took over or was dressed inappropriately or even worse...showed up drunk. That's totally unprofessional and insulting to you...the bride and groom. I guess I have just brought up my second point. Find someone who will treat you, your family and your guests professionally. For more information on choosing a photographer from The Professional Photographers of America please follow this link. I have been a member of this great organization since 1985 and remain committed to its demands of professionalism and service. Can I Change Your Feelings About Your Wedding Photography? Thirdly, your photography sessions should be fun and reflective of your personalities. Some of my clients are really "formal" people who demand traditional posing and lighting for their group and family portraits. That's no problem. I have been "classically" trained by some of the worlds best wedding and portrait photographers and I continue to train and learn from the industry leaders. But most of my clients are asking for "candid" or "photo journalistic" style photographs. That's where I really shine. Prior to becoming a portrait and wedding photographer I was an award winning photojournalist for eight years. That training has really helped me "think on my feet" and capture the story of the wedding day. It's also helped me to get the photographs with minimal direction to my subjects. I say minimal direction because without some direction by your photographer, you're going to get a lot of photos of peoples backs. Is that what you want to see? If this sounds like what you're looking for you should contact me today. There is no cost or obligation...let's just chat about your wedding photography. Many of our couples are traveling to Colorado for their weddings to take advantage of our incredible scenery. Wouldn't it be sad if the wedding photographs missed that? What a loss! When I'm not photographing weddings, I travel the west in search of great landscape photographs. Some of my landscapes have won international awards in prestigious competitions. Many sell consistently at art galleries and are used in corporate publications. I bring that expertise to your wedding. The "sense of place" is an extremely important element in your wedding photography. Especially if you traveled here for the scenery! You can follow this link to see some of my landscape photography . With nearly one hundred weddings under my belt, twenty plus years of experience and training and tens of thousands of dollars in equipment and back-up equipment, I will bring more photo-power to your wedding than any Uncle Harry could dream of unless, of course, he's a professional photographer too. Does that sound good to you? If so, drop me an email today. The most important day of your life should be captured by a professional with professional equipment, someone with the experience and training to create truly wonderful memories. How many times are you going to do this? The bottom line is the photographs. How do you want to remember your wedding day? Your wedding photographs will be one of your most-prized possessions. They will contain all the smiles, tears, hugs, flowers, clothes, family and friends that created that special day. Only your photographs can bring back the memories of your perfect day. Only a professional photographer will be able to capture all those emotions effectively. To find out why I should be your first choice for photographer request my FREE special report here. But what does this cost? A great question, and one most brides ask first. Your photographer should offer a variety of services and features to fulfill your dreams and desires. Investment levels can vary greatly from one photographer to another and even within the packages offered by one photographer. I call them "Investment levels" because your initial expense in wedding photography will grow more valuable every year. Eventually, you will regard your wedding albums as priceless. How do I know? There are countless stories of times of tragedy, fire, flood etc. where people scooped up their photographs and ran out the door to safety. I'm sure you've heard them too. Mid-day Colorado Summer Sunshine can be pretty harsh and not very flattering. Unfortunately, most couples don't consider this when choosing the time for their ceremony and reception. Since the photos are the memories of your wedding day, special attention should be given to when and where your wedding photographs are created. To read about the best time to create your wedding images follow this link. If it's too late to change the time, it's really important to choose a photographer with knowledge of how to make the best of difficult outdoor lighting conditions. That always involves auxiliary lighting or reflectors. I'll bring both to your wedding. Another option could be to create the photographs before the wedding at another location offering more flattering light. Will your photographer offer these options? I do! Will they charge extra? I don't! If all of this is starting to sound good you can check out my packages and options here. No cost, no obligation! But that does bring up another question. Why can't my Uncle Harry take the pictures? He has a good new digital camera. This one's easy. How many weddings has Uncle Harry shot? Has he ever posed people? Has he ever dealt with the low-light of a church interior or a thunderstorm? Is he a "diplomat" when working with your future mother-in-law? Does he have a back-up camera? And about that camera, is it of a professional standard? Does it allow the operator to fully control every aspect of the image? (Assuming Uncle Harry knows what to adjust and why.) Does he use auxiliary flash to open up shadows on sunny faces? Again, I could go on and on but why would you do that to poor old Uncle Harry? Don't you want him to enjoy your wedding day too? A frequent question I get is: Do you shoot film or digital? That's a great question. Since I have been photographing weddings for over 20 years, I have always chosen the camera systems that provided the greatest benefits to my clients. Today that's digital. Because of this new technology, you will be able to let everyone see your photographs without hassle or obligation. You will be able to choose between color, black and white, or sepia tone with every single image and you will be able to preview them before you make your purchase. Your photographer will have an infinite array of creative techniques at his disposal to perfectly reflect your creative desires. Your family and guests will be able to order prints without you having to collect orders or money. One of the ways I am able to capture your emotions and feelings involves creative exclusivity. What's that, you ask? Being creative is hard. It requires energy, rest, attentiveness and not being rushed or stressed. Because I only photograph one wedding per weekend you will have my undivided attention. I won't be tired from a previous event and I won't be asking to leave early to get to my next one. With only twelve dates available in our short summer wedding season, dates book quickly. But you can be certain that you will have a fresh, creative photographer for your wedding day if you are one of the twelve. To see if your date is still available call me today at (970) 349-5038.
